Audre Lorde said “The white fathers taught us to say, ‘I think, therefore I am.’” She suggested, “I feel, therefore I am free”.
Elif Shakaf quoting both Audre Lorde and Descartes.
Not entirely true. I never had panic attacks, but at the age of around 11 I had to actively stop myself from thinking about ideas of infinity and nothingness. It scared me too much and resulted in a recurring dream that I still occasionally have. My mind is active yet limited and I simply cannot fathom the idea that there is not an edge of the universe. Nor can I imagine there not being something beyond that edge. I can’t see beyond time itself, nor before time. My head is fixed in numbers and pictures. And without these things, entering nothingness, well- it simply can’t exist in my consciousness. Y’know?
